Traditional silver prints and contemporary digital giclee as well as C prints are represented. A full list of participating artists and more images will be published here soon.

Four artists were awarded top honors for their work. Richard Cummings was presented Best of Show for his outstanding photo, “Veiled Nude” (above). May is turning out to be a busy month for CPAC Board Members. Board VP /Curator Rupert Jenkins and photojournalist Dana Romanoff will show work and discuss ways in which media technology and the decline of traditional outlets has affected today’s documentary photographer. Several burning-issue topics will be covered, including the use and construction of multi-media presentations, image editing, and the opportunities presented by today’s new media, as well as strategies for coping with diminishing traditional media outlets.

Romanoffs “No Man’s land: The Women of Mexico” is about the effect of immigration on women in rural Mexico. It was featured in the Photo Journal section of April’s National Geographic Magazine. Jenkins curated two exhibitions of photography -  “Hal Gould: A Retrospective” and “Places Like Us” - for RedLine in February 2009. He is a freelance writer and curator who currentlyworks as an editor and arts administrator at the University of Denver’s Victoria H. Myhren Gallery.

About True Love, CPAC board member Katy Taft writes, “These works are love stories, both happy and sad. Making them has helped to exorcise my past and manifest the future that I want to exist. They are spells cast and objects of catharsis, they make magic happen and contain it. Some of these objects are made up of numerous almost identical pieces: the repeated action enforces a lesson learned, a tall building leapt a roadblock turning into a milestone. Artist reception: Saturday May 8th, 5–9 p.m. We’ll see you there!
